Removal of unwanted fat with PCDC

What is PCDC?

Phosphatidylcholine and deoxycholate are two substances commonly used in cosmetic treatments to reduce the appearance of fat deposits and improve the contour of the body. Phosphatidylcholine is a type of phospholipid, a molecule that makes up the outer layer of cell membranes. It is naturally found in a variety of foods, including eggs, soybeans, and sunflower seeds. In cosmetic treatments, phosphatidylcholine is typically derived from soy or egg yolk and is used as an injectable solution to target areas of unwanted fat. When injected into the body, phosphatidylcholine is believed to break down fat cells, which are then eliminated by the body's natural processes.

Deoxycholate, on the other hand, is a bile acid that is produced by the liver and stored in the gallbladder. It is used in cosmetic treatments as an injectable solution to target areas of unwanted fat, similar to phosphatidylcholine. When injected into the body, deoxycholate is believed to break down fat cells, which are then eliminated by the body's natural processes.

When used in combination, phosphatidylcholine and deoxycholate are referred to as "PCDC." The use of PCDC in cosmetic treatments is often called "lipodissolve," "mesotherapy," or "injection lipolysis."

What are the benefits?

The benefits of PCDC treatments include the reduction of unwanted fat deposits and the improvement of body contour. These treatments are typically used on areas such as the chin, jowls, upper arms, thighs, and abdomen. PCDC treatments are often seen as a less invasive alternative to surgical procedures like liposuction.

Are there risks?

As with any procedure, there are also risks associated with PCDC treatments. These include bruising, swelling, pain, and redness at the injection site. More serious risks include infections, allergic reactions, and the destruction of healthy tissue.

Wait? Isn’t this the same thing as Kybella?

Well, kind of. Kybella is a brand name for an injectable solution of deoxycholic acid, a synthetic version of the bile acid deoxycholate. Like PCDC, Kybella is injected into the area of unwanted fat, where it is believed to break down the fat cells. Kybella is specifically designed for the treatment of submental fat, or the fat that accumulates under the chin, and is FDA-approved for this use. PCDC is estimated to be about 4 times as strong as Kybella. Results tend to be better and side effects are often less.

How many treatments do I need?

Most patients require 2-3 treatments, spaced 4-6 weeks apart.
